Srinivasa R. Sripathi, PhD

Dr. Srinivasa R. Sripathi leads stem cell research to provide innovative solutions for vision restoration. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

His primary concentration is on patient-specific stem cell-derived (stem cells grown from a patient’s blood or saliva sample) retinal pigment epithelium and multi-layered retinal organoids to develop a disease-in-a-dish model for AMD studies.

Dr. Sripathi has received grant support from the BrightFocus Foundation, Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Addy Foundation and Theodore and Beulah Beasly Foundation. His peer-reviewed research publications contribute significantly to the field of ocular stem cell research. His passion to save vision began as a young child in India where he helped vision-impaired children and adults read braille.
