Even the most diehard Dallas Cowboys’ fan has a soft spot in her/his heart for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. In addition to being Texas-born, Drew’s been a squeaky clean kind of guy. Why, he even joined the Saints for reasons that might have stymied his agent. After seeing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, he and his wife Brittany Brees knew that they had found their place. Even Saints coach Sean Payton was amazed that he landed Brees.
With that he led the team to winning the 2010 Super Bowl and rallied the spirits of its residents. As for the 2019 Super Bowl, well, that one will go down in history as a painful call situation.
If anyone heard him at the After-School All-Stars Rising Stars Luncheon last May, they know he’s the kind of guy that is a total role model and has a great sense of humor.
It’s that kind of role modeling that is bringing him back to North Texas for the 3rd Annual Visionary Luncheon on Wednesday, March 4, at the Omni Dallas for a chat with Shelly Slater.
Another reason to sign up for the Retina Foundation of the Southwest fundraiser is that Luncheon Co-Chairs Nancy and Steve Rogers have arranged for the entire Nancy and Herbert Hunt family to serve as the honorary co-chairs.
It should be no surprise since “Nancy and Herbert Hunt have been supporting the Retina Foundation since 2007. They are lifetime members of the Retina Foundation of the Southwest Auxiliary and recipients of the 2012 Visionary Award.” As for the Rogers, they’ve been on board with the foundation for a couple of decades. “Nancy is a member of the board of directors and both she and Steve are huge supporters of the Foundation events, attending nearly every luncheon, lecture and special event over the years.”
While it’s not until March, it could be a check mark on your Christmas gift “hard-to-shop-for” fav. All funds will help advance the mission of the Retina Foundation of the Southwest to prevent vision loss and save sight through innovative research and treatment for age-related macular degeneration, pediatric eye conditions, and inherited eye diseases.
